It’s blustery and cold here in Maine and we can think of little better place to set that requisite cup of coffee then on a brightly colored accent table. Nothing says spring quite a like a little burst of color— and with windchills set to reach six below tonight we’re hoping May flowers aren’t as far away as they seem!

We’ve just added two great new items to our collection! Niche and Time is pleased to introduce “The Reincarnate,” our reclaimed barnboard frame and “The Tall Skinny” our multipurpose shelf. As always these items are custom made to order and can be tailored to meet your vision or size requirements.

Winter has hit, and here in Maine the adage “in like a lion” applies to a lot more than the month of April! Winter has been no exception, and here at the studio we’ve received two out of the past four evenings. The weatherman says there’s more on the way…and we’re anticipating a true white Christmas.

“The Reincarnate” is an exceptional holiday gift and can be created as a frame or mirror…orders placed by December 15 will be shipped by 12/20, ensuring that they’ll wind up under the tree in time for Christmas morning.

Welcome to Niche and Time! Whether you are an old friend or a newcomer stumbling across our site we’re excited to share our work with you. We’re relatively new to this (on the web at least) and we’re elated at all of the great feedback we’ve gotten since launching our Etsy store in October.

Based in Hope, Maine Niche and Time is a veritable one man band. Ironically, Niche and Time is the brainchild of designer/ builder Kelly Hailey, who gains inspiration from many sources including his passion for music–another realm in which he excels as a (literal) one man band. Kelly’s background in theatrical set design is complimented by his many years of experience in fine carpentry, and his resourceful nature is often evident in his creative and unusual creations.

We hope you’ll enjoy the site—everything shown is fully handmade and can be custom ordered (we stock a few pieces). Kelly is also happy to consult at any time if you have an idea or design you are interested in bringing to life.
